Being Chinese American, I often felt that I must choose between two cultures. As a child, I felt that many of my peers wouldn't understand my frustration when a classmate pulled her eyes back and imitated the way my parents spoke. These actions manifested as resentment toward Chinese culture that I have learned to embrace. Through my series, Nostalgia, I wanted to begin conveying the respect I have developed for my culture. These images provide a look into what it means to be Chinese American and how that experience has shaped me.
